Dominic Winter Auctioneers are pleased to announce their forthcoming Fine Art sale on the 15th July 2026, which includes a large range of Old Master prints and drawings covering the history of printmaking in Europe during the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Brought together from a number of different sources, including several private collections, the sale includes a remarkably fine example of Adam and Eve by Jan Wierix (1549-1615) after Durer's famous original. Executed by Wierix at the age of just sixteen, this impression has a rich tonal depth, and is in excellent condition (lot 5, £1,500-£2,000).

Lot 5 - Wierix (Jan). Adam and Eve, after Durer, 1566, engraving
Also to be offered is a remarkably fresh full set of the eight engravings by Jan Saenredam depicting Niobe and her children, after Goltzius. This continuous engraved frieze in eight panels, is based on original drawings by Goltzius after the now lost frescoes by Polidor da Caravaggio in the Palazzo Milesi in Rome (lot 13, £2,000-£3,000).

Lot 13 - Saenredam (Jan, 1565-1607). Niobe and her Children, after Goltzius, 1594, set of 8 engravings
Amongst a rich selection of the work of Wenceslaus Hollar (1607-1677) are four etchings from his rare series of Shells, circa 1646, the purpose of which (and unusual in his oeuvre), remains obscure.
From the early 18th century, we have a beautiful group of four mezzotints by John Raphael Smith (1752-1812) of the Loves of the Gods (1708-1709), all rich impressions, depicting Neptune and Amphitrite, Vulcan and Ceres, Pluto and Proserpina and Bacchus and Ariadne (lot 85, £1,000-£1,500).

Lot 85 - Smith (John Raphael, 1752-1812). The Loves of the Gods, four mezzotints
Amongst a number of fine original works on paper is a remarkably detailed pen, brown ink, and brown wash study of Hecuba finding the body of her son Polydorus washed up on the seashore of circa 1600, attributed to the Second School of Fontainebleau, formerly in the distinguished collection of Richard and Trude Krautheimer. (lot 17, £2,000-£3,000).

Lot 17 - Second School of Fontainebleau. Hecuba finding the body of her son Polydorus..., 1600
A large-scale red chalk drawing by the late Baroque artist Il Baciccio (1639-1709), depicts the Communion of Mary Magdalene, measuring 710 x 385 mm (28 x 15 ¼ inches), is a larger version than the very similar example of the same work now in the Victoria and Albert Museum. (Lot 63, £3,000-£5,000).
