Sealed bids invited for 1:4 scale De Havilland 9a flying model

We are pleased to offer for sale, by sealed bids, this exceptional flying 1:4 scale model of a De Havilland 9a entirely scratch built by Peter McDermott, an internationally renowned and award winning model engineer.

Made from silk-covered spruce and metal, with working engine, all flying controls and impressive 3.5m wingspan (140 inches), sold with custom built trailer which has been used to transport it to international competitions.

The DH9 was originally a WWI Royal Flying Corps design but extended, modified and re-engined to meet the needs of the Royal Air Force in policing of the British Empire and former Ottoman territories, until well into the time that engineers were designing jets.

Viewing can be arranged by appointment (Bath area).
