Scarce. Author's presentation copy, inscribed to front endpaper: "Professor Allman, University Edinburgh, with the author's respects". George James Allman (1812-1898) was Emeritus Professor of Natural History at Edinburgh University until 1870. Thomas Tate (1842-1934) studied medicine at Edinburgh University and undertook a voyage as doctor aboard the whaler 'Dublin' from Peterhead to Spitsbergen in 1863. His account was first published in the Alnwick Mercury, with this booklet published shortly afterwards.
