In common with many businesses around the world, we have had to adjust our normal working habits as a consequence of Covid19 and UK Government restrictions on work and travel, and advice on social distancing. Although our salerooms and offices are currently closed to the public, some staff continue to visit our premises and monitor all correspondence, whether by email, telephone or post. Specialist valuers are now working from home preparing future sales. We have also made some adjustments to our sales schedule, and have updated the auction calendar on this website with some revised sale dates.
Our next auction will now take place over two days at the end of this month, on Wednesday and Thursday 27th and 28th May. We are pleased to offer some restricted public viewing for this sale. These viewings are available on weekdays from Friday 15 May until Tuesday 26 May (excluding Bank Holiday Monday 25 May). Places are discretionary and strictly by pre-booked timed appointment. To ask for an appointment please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0800 4880594 and leave your details. For full details of these arrangements, please see our News section.
874 lots will be offered, including rare travel and colour plate books, early maps and atlases, and fine natural history from the library of David Wilson (former secretary of the British Trust for Ornithology). Also up for sale will be illustrated works on the art of fencing, early English and continental antiquarian books, as well as a major selection of historical autographs, manuscripts and documents. The latter range from the medieval period and English Civil War, through to military and naval history of the 18th and 19th century with a particular focus on the Napoleonic Era, and famous figures of the 20th century.
Our extensively illustrated catalogue for this sale is now available online, freely accessible to all our clients. Further information and advice on the sale, including condition reports, will be offered by specialist staff during this period by email, telephone, or video conference.
Please continue to visit our website for further updates and news on past, present and future sales. We will also be posting regular updates on Twitter with details of interesting and unusual lots coming up. All the staff at Dominic Winter Auctions thank you in advance for your interest and support and look forward to seeing customers in person - when improved travel and social distancing rules permit us - in the near future.
We want to continue providing you with valuations and have launched our Interactive Valuation Service. Our experienced valuers are happy to arrange a video call with you so you can show them the items you need valuing in a one-to-one video session.
