Notes for bidders with www.the-saleroom.com

Please note that this is a service offered though Antiques Trade Gazette. Registration is free and allows anyone to follow and listen in to the auction in progress in real time. Customers can use this service for live internet bidding as well. To do this you must register your full details with the-saleroom in advance of the auction, ideally at least 24 hours in advance. For all lots purchased by this method there is an additional charge of 3% (or 3.525% on asterisked * lots incurring VAT), which is collected on behalf of the-saleroom by Dominic Winter Book Auctions as part of the invoice total.

Further important points to customers bidding online:

- Please follow the bidding on screen and not just by audio as sound may be fractionally delayed.

- Please bid quickly and start bidding straight away when the lot is offered. This lets the-saleroom operator in the auction room know that you are interested who will then be prepared to bid on your behalf instantly.

- The auctioneer will usually take all commission bids, room bids and telephone bids as priority in order not to slow the auction down and will only then turn to the internet bidding with a very last chance before bringing the hammer down.

- Do not hesitate and get involved as soon as you can. Any hesitation will mean that the lot will probably be knocked down to another bidder before your bid is received and acted upon by the operator. It is not recommended to bid by this method for "must-have" lots. For lots valued at £500 or more telephone bids can usually be arranged directly with the auction rooms, while for lower value lots commission bids are most reliable.
