Edition originale parue un an avant l'édition anglaise. Tirage limité à 600 exemplaires (500 pour vente). (Il y a aussi 50 exemplaires sur Van Gelder.)

Reliure de l'époque signée de Pagnant: livre cartonné peinte en pochoir, de fleurs en rouge, vert et jaune, gardes en papier decoré avec des saintes en d'or; couvertures violettes imprimées en argent conservées, bords des couvertures décolorés, comme toujours.

La vignette reproduite en argenté sur la couverture et en noir sur la page de titre est due à Félicien Rops.

Une photographie de l'époque tipped-in comme frontispice: tirage argentique d'àpres une aquarelle de Moreau de Salomé Dansant [1886? originale à Musée d'Orsay, Paris].

Envoi autographe en encre signé à feuille blanche: 'à Gustave Moreau, Hommage respectueux, Oscar Wilde'.

Une copie très importante et historique et précédemment inconnue. Donné au vendeur par la concierge de sa mère il y a environ quarante ans.
