Having gained a First Class degree in Literature and History of
Art at the University of Essex, Nathan continued his studies at
the Courtauld Institute 1987-88 (MA, History of Art). He has worked
full-time with his brother Dominic in the auction business since
1991, having previously worked for two years as head of the Modern
Art department at Thoemmes Antiquarian Books. Specialist interests
include early printed books, art and architecture. In recent years
Nathan has developed the Fine Art sale at DWBA as a regular feature.

Chris read Philosophy and History & Theory of Art at the University
of Kent. He began working for secondhand booksellers' Quinto of
Charing Cross Road in 1984. From there he moved to Hay-on-Wye
to run Jenner Old and Rare Medical Books. In 1988 he joined Dominic
Winter in the Book Department at Taviner's Auction Rooms in Bristol
and later that year followed Dominic to become the first full-time
cataloguer for his new auction house venture. Looking for a new
book direction, in 1995 Chris was recruited as a commissioning
editor by Thoemmes Press, a small firm of publishers specialising
in reprints of Philosophy and related subjects. Chris rejoined
Dominic as specialist book cataloguer, senior valuer and auctioneer
in 2001, since when he has taken full responsibility for the expanding
areas of autographs, documents, ephemera and photography.

After serving for three years in the Navy, John opened
a map and print gallery in Stow-on-the-Wold. Having been a dealer
and customer of Dominic Winter Book Auctions for over twenty years,
John joined the company in 2008. His particular interests are maps,
prints, caricatures and illustrated books.

Henry obtained a B.A. (Hons) in Fine Arts Valuation at the Solent
University having previously worked for a Nottingham Auctioneers.
After graduating in 2004 he worked with Dreweatts running their
Medals and Militaria auctions before obtaining a position with the
Medals Department at Spink, London, Henry had many highlights with
the company including organising the first ever public display of
Victoria Crosses from the Lord Ashcroft collection, handling 50
VCs including the hero of Rorke’s Drift John Chard’s.
Henry has been working with us since June 2011 and has had many
successful sales. Henry is a Member of The Royal Institute of Chartered
Surveyors, a member of the OMRS and can also occasionally be seen
as an expert on Bargain Hunt!
